Hong Kong reported Tuesday its first novel coronavirus death, the second case of fatality outside China, reported Reuters.
The patient was identified as a 39-year-old male who reportedly traveled to Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak.
The news came out as hundreds of medical workers in the Asian financial hub protested to force the government to shut down all borders of the former British colony with China.
Hong Kong has 15 confirmed cases including a case that was transmitted locally.
The first death from coronavirus outside China was reported by the Philippines on February 2.
The confirmed cases have reached 20,000 on Tuesday, according to China’s National Health Commission.
