The Batangas provincial government Friday has placed 14 towns under lockdown due to imminent hazardous eruption of Taal volcano.
Batangas Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDDRMO) head Lito Castro stressed that people residing within the 14-kilometer radius danger zone are not allowed to return to their homes.

On Wednesday, six town in Batangas were placed under lockdown because of fissures or cracks observed due to continuous volcanic quakes felt within the province.
Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said they are still observing the volcanic activity of Taal which has weakened since January 16, 2020.
However, the state volcanologist stressed that the presence of earthquakes and fissures indicate that a magma intrusion underneath Taal’s crater would potentially trigger a potential major eruption.
