The Archdiocese of Manila has announced that the second collection across all masses within the city starting from the Saturday evening mass on January 18 and the whole day of Sunday, January 19 will be donated for the families affected by the Mt. Taal explosion.
The Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila Fr. Reginald Malicdem said the remittance of monetary collections will be until January 22 at the accounting department of Arzobispado de Manila in Intramuros.
Malicdem appealed to send prayers to the displaced residents of the active volcano.
“We encourage that intention that the eruptions may end and that all may be safe be included in the Prayer of the Faithful of all our masses,” he wrote in a letter on Monday.
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) president Archbishop Romulo Valles has also asked for the solidarity prayers among government workers and victims.
Valles has been encouraging people to respond to their needs by donating goods and medical care.
“During this very difficult situation, for thousands of families affected by this volcanic activity, we are encouraged to do acts of solidarity, and first of these is to offer sincerely our prayers to the Lord for these suffering people,” he said in a statement.
