An African housemaid stole Dh29,000 from her employers in Dubai just a few hours after she was given the job.
The housewife said the maid was sent by her friend to try her before she gives her a permanent job and transfers her sponsorship to the family.
The woman said she asked the maid to tidy up the bedroom and went out shopping, adding that she could not find the maid when she returned home.
“The woman said she checked her husband wardrobe and discovered that his bag which contained around Dh29,000 has gone…she realized that the maid had robbed them and reported her to the police,” Al Bayan daily said.
Police arrested the maid in another emirate and handed her over to Dubai’s authorities, the paper said, adding that a criminal court sentenced her to six months in prison and ordered her deportation after she returns the stolen money.
