An early Christmas gift awaits Quezon City Representative Alfred Vargas as he will be one of the recipients of The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) to be awarded by the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines.
Vargas, who was surprised upon hearing the news, will accept the TOYM award at Manila Hotel on December 13, Friday.
“Gulat na gulat ako sa award na ito kasi it’s the most prestigious, it’s the highest award para sa kabataan sa buong Pilipinas,” PEP.ph quoted Vargas as saying in an interview.
Vargas said helping other people made him realize his life mission and considered it as his best decision in his life.
“Dito kasi sa public service, isinakripisyo ko yung sarili kong dreams para makatulong sa iba na maabot din nila yung pangarap nila,” he said.
“I’ve always believed that service to humanity is the best work of life.”
Prominent TOYM awardees include Ryan Cayabyab, Jessica Soho, Jessie Robredo, Kara David, Ninoy Aquino, and Loren Legarda.
