Drivers who will not give way to emergency service vehicles or ambulances in Dubai will now receive warnings or messages through their car radio networks.
Motorists who will ignore these messages and warnings may now face hefty fines and possible impounding of their vehicles.
Now, ambulance drivers could now transmit messages to alert drivers that they need to clear the road immediately.
Drivers who will not oblige with the warning can be charge with hefty fines and black points on their driver’s license.
The move to send messages during emergency situations is part of Dubai Ambulance’s Give Way Give Hope campaign.
The program aims to decrease the number of delays cause by drivers blocking emergency roads.
“Attention, emergency vehicle approaching! Kindly give way” Dubai police said sharing an example of the message motorists can hear in one’s car.
Last July, total fines for motorists not giving way to emergency vehicles reached to Dh3,000.00
Vehicles are not allowed to follow an ambulance or emergency vehicle to cut through traffic.
At least 121 vehicles were fined for not giving way to emergency vehicles this year. (TN)
