BSP: Gov’t to spend Php30 on each National ID card

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) revealed that the government is poised to spend Php30 for every card under the National ID system.

The cards are expected to roll out in the next three years and will be released to 116 million Filipinos.

BSP said that the total cost for the ID cards for Php3.4 billion, or P30 for each of the 116 million cards.

“Our contract with the PSA, it’s at P3.4 billion, that is for 116 million cards. Practically, that is around almost P30 per card,” the BSP said.

The national ID card will contain the individual’s full name, facial image, sex, birthday, blood type and address.

“Under the MOA, the BSP shall produce 116 million pieces of blank cards for the Philippine ID for three years,” BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said.

Registration for the national ID system will start next year and ID cards will be rolled out starting July next year.
