The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will be rolling out the new Php5 coin to avoid confusion over the Php1 coin.
BSP Monetary Board member Bruce Tolentino said they will also release the new Php20 coin which will replace its current bill form.
“This new Php5 will be the solution as there are many complaints that the PHP5 coin is being mistaken for PHP1,” Tolentino told Philippine News Agency.
Tolentino added that the new Php5 coin will have a new wave design to distinguish it from other coins.
The BSP said they will no longer produce the current Php5 and Php20 bill.
