Two suspects in the killing of former Bien Unido town Mayor Gisela Bendong-Boniel were arrested in a joint operation in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu on Thursday morning, Sept. 12.
Arrested were Allan Delos Reyes Jr., and Lobo Boniel.
Delos Reyes and Boniel are also on the list of the Region 7’s Most Wanted Persons.
The arrest was made by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court (RTC) Judge Christine Muga-Abad of Branch 70 on August 23, 2019.
Both Delos Reyes and Boniel were named defendants to the murder charge together with Wilfredo Hoylar Jr., Randel Lupas, Restituto Magoncia Jr. and Riolito “Etad” Boniel.
They were the six men identified by witnesses as the armed men who entered the room where Gisela and her best friend Angela Leyson were staying the night when she was allegedly killed.
Gisela’s body is still missing until now while the case of parricide against her husband and former Bohol Provincial Board Member Nino Rey Boniel is still ongoing.
The operation was led by Bohol’s Provincial Police Director Col. Jonathan Cabal together with their Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB), the Regional Intelligence Unit in Region 7 (RIU-7), and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group in Central Visayas (CIDG-7).
A .45 caliber gun was also recovered from the possession of Lobo.
