A court in Abu Dhabi has fined a local company Dh500,000 for its failure to pay monthly wages to its workers on time.
Although the company sorted the problem a month later, an appeals court still ordered it to pay the fine on the grounds it has already committed an offense.
The unnamed firm has earlier been ordered by a court of first instance to pay Dh5 million fine for the salary delay of 643 workers, prompting the company to appeal the verdict.
An appeals court slashed the fine to Dh500,000 but the firm appealed again with the court of cassation, which upheld that sentence.
