Manila Mayor Isko Moreno has ordered the strict compliance on the city curfew for minors.
In a memorandum issued on Monday, Moreno has tasked barangay officials, Manila Police District and the Manila Social Welfare Department to submit weekly reports on the implementation of the curfew ordinance.
“In order to achieve the goals of protecting and promoting the welfare of minor children in the city, all punong barangays are hereby ordered to strictly implement City Ordinance No. 8547 in their respective areas of jurisdiction. Accordingly, they shall submit a report every Monday on the status of its implementation,” the memorandum said.
Under the ordinance, minors (17 and below) are not allowed to be in public places from 10PM to 4AM.
Parents and guardian will be the one responsible if a minor violated the city ordinance.
Violators may face Php2,000 to Php5,000 fine and 6 months imprisonment.
The memorandum comes after Moreno caught 20 minors in Tondo on Sunday using solvent and drinking alcohol.
