A court in Sharjah fined a teacher at a local private school Dh10,000 after she was accused of being cruel by ordering a 15-year-old schoolboy to take off his shoes and walk barefooted on the hot school ground.
The judge found the teacher at the unnamed school guilty of “being cruel and of exercising violence against a student.”
“The court found that the way she punished the student hurt his feet because the ground was very hot at noon… the teacher was found to have acted cruelly when she is supposed to care for the students,” Emarat Al Youm daily said.
The paper said the student had told his father who went to school to take his son’s shoes back, but she refused.
“The student only had his shoes back when the school bus supervisor pressed the teacher to hand them back to him.”
