A Tarlac resident got the shock of her life when she received her electric bill statement with a total amount of Php942,818.17 for the month of July.
Conchita Tongol is still in disbelief on how her electric consumption surged to a million peso having only limited home appliance.
“Dati kuryente ko 500,700 naging 1,500 mamaya may naka ano sa kuryente ko o kaya luma na,” Tongol told ABS-CBN’s Rated K.
The management of Tarlac Electric Cooperative 1 or TARELCO admitted that there had been a ‘technical error’ on the part of their meter reading system.
“Yung meter reader namin pupunta sa site yan. Dun mismo ireread niya yung konsumo ng metro at dun mismo rin ibibigay niya sa consumer,” TARELCO said.
The management of the electric company also said that changing electric meters could’ve contributed to the wrong electric bill computation.
TARELCO corrected Tongol’s bill and she is set to pay the amount of Php10,000.
