Metro Manila recorded its highest and hottest temperature of the year at 36.6 degree Celsius amid the declaration of PAGASA of the start of the rainy season.
Last April, Metro Manila also logged a 36.6 degree Celsius temperature. The hot weather was brought about by monsoon breaks leaving Luzon and the Visayas cloudless and rainless.
This weather may persist in the coming days, apart from isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in the later afternoon or early evening, officials said.
The highest temperature in Philippine history was 42.2 degrees Celsius,m in Tuguegarao, Cagayan on May 11, 1969.
Metro Manila recorded its hottest day at 38.5 degrees Celsius on May 14, 1987.
