Malacanang has announced that pilot testing for the implementation of the National ID system to certain areas has been set for September.
In a press briefing, Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo said the announcement came from Socio-economic and Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia.
“There will be a pilot testing which will run from September to December 2019 to register a substantial number of Filipinos nationwide. By the end of the President’s term in 2022, 107 million Filipinos are targeted to be registered,” Panelo said.
The law was signed by President Rodrigo Duterte last August. The law will harmonize or consolidate at least 33 government ids from different agencies into one.
The Phil-ID will have the person’s PhilSys number, full name, facial image, sex, birth, blood type, and address. Full set of fingerprints and Iris scan will also be in the card.
