Authorities arrested five Asian nationals who broke into a house in Sharjah while the owner and his family were on vacation abroad.
Initial investigations showed that the suspects carted away money, jewelry and watches worth a total of one million dirhams.
Police arrested the primary suspect, who was hired by the owners for maintenance of the house. The suspect admitted that he initially plotted to conduct the crime by himself, but decided to enlist the help of four other people to carry out the plan.
The four other suspects were arrested during follow-up operations by Sharjah police. They later admitted of their participation in the crime when the police confronted them with the evidence.
It was also learned the five suspects were illegal residents and have entered the United Arab Emirates without proper documentation.

Meantime, the number of illegal expats living in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia who have been deported due to residency and labor violations has reached 730,873 in the past 17 months, according to press reports.
Officials said 2,903,531 expats were arrested because of residency, labor regulations and border security violations while a total of 394,392 were handed over to their respective embassies and consulates in the kingdom to obtain travel documents.
On the other hand, 11, 197 expats were detained across the kingdom, some 9,569 of whom were men while 1,628 were women.
Reports also said that over 3,586 people who have been providing illegal expats with housing and transportation were caught.
Arrests and deportation in the kingdom are part of the Interior Ministry’s campaign, in coordination with the Directorate General of Passports and the Ministry of Labor and Social Development and other government departments, against illegal residents, which was launched on November 15, 2017 after the amnesty for visa overstayers and violators expired.
In entertainment, a showbiz insider has confirmed that actress Julia Montes has given birth.
According to a report published on PEP.ph, Montes gave birth to her first child during the last week on March at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center in San Juan City.
Though it was not yet confirmed, the source believes that actor Coco Martin is the father of Montes’ child.
