The UAE aims to make its country even safer for everyone by considering to implement a new speed limit on selected roads.
According to RAK Police Traffic and Patrols Department Director Ahmad Al Sam Al Naqbi, the decision to study changes on speed limits is a response to the public’s appeals and complains about drivers who speed on internal roads, as per a report from Khaleej Times.
Apart from ensuring the safety of motorists, passengers and pedestrians alike, the move also aims to improve the traffic situation around the vicinity.
“Many fatal accidents have been recently reported on RAK’s internal roads resulting in a number of deaths and casualties,” said Al Naqbi.
The traffic and patrols department is currently studying the move to reduce speed limits on these roads as department works closely with Ministry of Infrastructure Development and the Department of Public Works.
“The ministry of infrastructure development has also been asked to change the speed limit road signs so that drivers are aware of the new speed limits,” adds Al Naqbi.
