Blazing fast 5G internet speeds to be implemented in UAE this 2019

Filipinos know for a fact that the UAE’s internet speeds are no match for the services available back home – and the services are just about to get better as both du and Etisalat subscribers will soon roll out their 5G service.

The UAE’s biggest telecom providers are eyeing to begin rolling out the 5G experience for its clients by the end of March 2019, as per a report from Khaleej Times.

Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC)’s Chief Infrastructure Officer Saleem AlBlooshi, explained that du has been working nonstop as it prepares the country to experience 5G connectivity in the UAE.

“The availability of 5G services in the UAE is one step closer to reality as we recently announced our full readiness and ongoing network evolution to offer 5G network very soon. This is ahead of the anticipated commercial rollout of the 3GPP compliant 5G terminals in 2019,” he said.

Meanwhile, around 300-600 5G cellular sites will be built during 2019 to support the service, as per Saeed Al Zarouni, senior vice president for mobile networks.

“Our network and infrastructure will be ready to provide the service as soon as the 5G mobile handsets are available in UAE,” said Al Zarouni, in an interview with Khaleej Times.

During the first phase of the 5G launch, the service will be available at selected locations only, serving fixed wireless as well as mobile services in the UAE. The service will then gradually expand to other parts of the country, which will depend on consumer requirements.
