An Asian expat in was convicted of sending insulting and threatening messages to a company’s representative in Ajman.
According to the victim, the Asian man threatened his life on Whatsapp adding that the suspect also sent insulting messages particularly on his religion, reported Al Bayan.
The Asian man reportedly sent the message after the victim refused to sign the suspect’s incomplete documents.
The suspect admitted to sending the messages and was sentenced to three months in prison on top of a Dh5,000 fine and immediate deportation after serving his jailtime.
Article 20 of the UAE Federal Law on Combating Cyber Crimes states that slander, using abusive language, or insulting another person or entity using a computer network or any information technology means is a crime punishable by imprisonment, a fine of not more than Dh500,000, or deportation.
