Road closures in Abu Dhabi as Hollywood film begins shooting

Abu Dhabi residents can expect some temporary road closures as a Hollywood film commences its shooting period in the emirate.

Residents of City of Lights community on Reem Island were informed that a Hollywood film will be shot in the area.

The permit stated that the road closure will start from November 13 to November 15.

The specific Hollywood film to be shot was not mentioned, but it is believed to be the movie called “6 Underground” which stars actor Ryan Reynolds, who is currently in Abu Dhabi with acclaimed director Michael Bay.

Other cast members, meanwhile, include Dave Franco, Ben Hardy, Melanie Laurent, and Adria Arjona, among others.

Reports claim that one of the scenes to be shot in Abu Dhabi features a robot exploding over the sand dunes.

The production of the film costs around $125 million (Dh460 million) and is Netflix’s highest spending in a movie. It is set for release in 2019.
