President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to discuss with other international leaders the protection of the rights of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) as a part of the 33rd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Summit in Singapore.
According to Philippine Ambassador to Singapore Joseph del Mar Yap, among the topics that Duterte will discuss with the leaders are migrant workers’ rights and the territorial dispute between the Philippines and South China Sea.
Aside from Asean leaders, Duterte is also set to meet with other leaders that will be present in the summit such as US Vice President Mike Pence, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Meanwhile, other Cabinet members who accompanied Duterte at the summit include Foreign Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr., Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez and National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, among others.
