Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) can take the technical courses offered by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), even if they are away from the Philippines.
TESDA offers more than 50 course categories online such as agriculture; automotive; electronics; entrepreneurship; heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration; human health/health care; information and communication technology; lifelong learning skills; maritime; social, community development and other services; tourism; and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
OFWs can enroll in these courses by following these steps:
– Log into TESDA’s website at tesda.gov.ph;
– Select the “online application system for TESDA” icon;
– Answer the form that will flash on the screen;
– Submit the form by clicking the “submit” button.
OFWs only need to finish the modules required and pass the tests given for the specific courses.
After taking and studying the modules, an OFW may proceed to any recognized TESDA assessment center to take a hands-on assessment test. If an OFW passes, he/she will receive a national certificate.
This is beneficial for OFWs as they can include their national certification from finishing the course in their credentials when looking for a job.
