Filipino expat in Dubai splits cost of raffle ticket with co-workers; wins $1 million

Luck was on the side of a Filipino expat and his colleagues after their shared ticket was selected to win $1 million in Dubai Duty Free raffle on Tuesday, September 11.

Indian expat Gurmeet Singh bought the ticket number 1197 online in Series 280 on July 18 with shares from his nine other colleagues, one of whom is a Filipino national.

After agreeing to split the money equally among those who gave their share for the ticket cost, each of them will receive $100,000 (Php5,406,800.00).

“I always believe that promotion like this does works, Dubai Duty Free is indeed full of surprises. Thank you Dubai Duty Free for this magical moment,” Singh said.

Two other winners were also announced in the Finest Surprise promotion, each one winning a luxury vehicle.

Mr. Nivhans Seeboo, a Mauritian national based in Dubai won a Diamond White Mercedes Benz S560 in Series 1696 with ticket number 0954 which he bought online. Mr. Seeboo, the second Mauritan national to win the Finest Surprise promotion is uncontactable at the moment and will surely be surprised of his win.

Meanwhile, Mr. Tarek Ahmed, a 37 year old Dubai-based Egyptian national won the stylish motorbike BMW R 1200 GS Rallye in Series 345 – ticket number 0718. Mr. Ahmed, a project manager for an oil and gas company bought five tickets when he travelled to Egypt for vacation.

The draw was conducted by Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Salah Tahlak, Executive Vice President – Corporate Services, Sinead El Sibai, Senior Vice President – Marketing and Mona Al Ali, Vice President – HR Service Delivery.
