An official of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) said that the inflation rate, now at 6.4%, has been the focus of public discussion because it has become political.
PCCI Honorary Chairman Sergio Ortiz-Luis said that the latest inflation rate is not yet alarming because it is not very high considering the country’s history. He made a point to mention that the country even had double-digit inflation rates in the past.
Ortiz-Luis said that until the inflation rate reaches 8 percent, it is still manageable.
Meanwhile, he advised the government to focus on the availability of rice and to find ways to bring down the cost of fish, vegetables, sugar and fuel, reported the PNA.
