More Filipinos are getting employed, according to Labor Force Survey conducted in July by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
In its report released on September 5, PSA announced that the employment rate in July 2018 was estimated at 94.6 percent, slightly higher than the 94.4 percent in the same period last year.
Among the employed, the service sector comprised the largest part. At 57.5 percent, most of the workers in the service sector are engaged in wholesale and retail trade or repair of vehicles and motorcycles.
Compared to the same month last year, unemployment rate went down by 0.2 percent from 5.6 percent to 5.4 percent; 18.8 percent of the recorded unemployed finished with bachelor degrees; while 17.9 were college undergraduates.
