More Filipina minors are leaving PH illegally, immigration says

More underage women are trying to leave the country using falsified identities and fraudulent travel documents, says the Bureau of Immigration.

For the past three months, a total of 114 girls below 21 years old have tried to leave the country to become overseas Filipino workers (OFW) causing alarm for the officials at the immigration, reported the Inquirer.

Port Operations Division Chief Marc Red Mariñas suspects that the women were victimized by syndicates who are illegally flying them to other countries.

Just last week, four female minors were rescued on a flight bound to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Although their passports indicate they are in their late 20s, the women have admitted that they are actually below 21.

All of the intercepted women were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
