Duterte reaffirms anti-dynasty stand: Sara will not run for national post

As a stern supporter of banning political dynasties, President Rodrigo Duterte said that his daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio will not run for a national position.

Duterte announced this during his speech at the joint 68th National Security Council and 69th National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Founding Anniversary in Pasay, reported GMA News.

The president claimed that his daughter was content in her current office even after his supporters expressed an interest in electing the Davao mayor in the Senate.

Sara Duterte-Carpio was third placer in the Pulse Asia survey conducted in June for the candidates most likely to win the senatorial elections.

Before he became President in 2016, Rodrigo Duterte held the mayor’s office of Davao for over two decades. His daughter Sara is now in her second term as mayor.
