Messaging application WhatsApp announced that users using older operating systems will no longer be able to access the app beginning February 1, 2020.
Among those that will be affected are Android users with operating system versions 2.3.7 and older and iPhone users with operating system iOS 7 and older.
Nokia S40 users will also be affected by the stoppage of service of the messaging app beginning December 31, 2018.
Currently, the following operating systems are no longer supported by the app:
– Android versions older than 2.3.3
– Windows Phone 8.0 and older
– iPhone 3GS/iOS 6
– Nokia Symbian S60
– BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10
Users of the affected operating systems are advised to upgrade to the following:
– Android running OS 4.0+
– iPhone running iOS 8+
– Windows Phone 8.1+
WhatsApp is being used by more than half a billion people in the world and is a common messaging app used by many overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the UAE to connect to their friends and family.
