Engineer in UAE faces 6-month jail term, deportation for forgery, embezzling Dh48,000

An Asian has been given a six-month jail term sentence for forging invoices and embezzling a total of Dh48,000 or around Php686,000.

The Sharjah Criminal Court has also ordered the man, who worked as an IT engineer in a private company, to be deported after serving his jail sentence.

The accused was found guilty after court records showed he forged official documents and siphoned off money, all as he lured some of his coworkers with a 50 per cent share in return for helping him in his illegal activities.

The Asian’s activities were unveiled after a colleague stepped forward and gave a tip to authorities.

The aforementioned colleague, who worked in the sales department of the company, said the accused asked him to cancel some sales invoices.

He added that the accused was able to forge a total of ten invoices.
