The Philippine Consulate in Dubai organized an art exhibition called “Whimsy Wonders of Mind” that featured Jeanelyn “Ji” Jarder’s works.
Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes said that they have tried to transform that image of the consulate as a place of refuge for Filipino artists. “For quite some time we have realized that artists, Filipino artists in the UAE usually do not have an avenue or a place to express and showcase their talent in the form of art. So we’ve come up with a program that runs every quarter to feature at least one Filipino artist from Dubai and the northern emirates and expose their talent,” explained Cortes.
This was Jarder’s first solo exhibition as an artist whose works and masterpieces consist mostly of mixed media. “When I discovered mixed media, I find myself more challenged to be more creative of how you’re going to create a certain artwork where you can express yourself,” said Jarder.
ConGen Cortes said that the consulate is aware that some people are still in the dark about the whole concept but that their doors are open for collaboration. “If their works need to be “exposed” and shared with the rest of the world, all they need to do is send an email to me or get in touch with my Facebook page, Consul General Paul Raymund Cortes or email [email protected] and give us a sample of their work,” said Cortes
