A Filipina worker in Saudi Arabia who was reported missing in January was found in comatose at a hospital in Kuwait.
The overseas Filipino worker identified as Norisa Manambit was found through the help of a video posted on Facebook by a Filipino nurse in hopes of reaching Manambit’s relatives.
In an interview with a local radio station in Kidapawan City, Manambit’s niece, Lady Mae Besa, said they reported Manambit missing last January after failing to contact her. Besa added that their last communication her was during the last quarter of 2017.
Her relatives were shocked that Manambit was found in Kuwait and not in Dammam, Saudi Arabia were she was working.
“How can that be? We were so sure she went to Dammam, Saudi Arabia. How did she arrive in Kuwait?” Besa said.
Besa said they learned that her aunt and her employer had a spat after the Filipina was caught using her mobile phone. The argument quickly escalated to a fight which caused the employer to call the police to have Manambit locked up in prison.
However, when Manambit’s friends visited her in prison, Manambit was nowhere to be found.
Besa also added that when they asked for the help of Manambit’s agency in the Philippines, they were instructed to not report the case to any government agency or the media while they are not done with their follow-up reports.
“But weeks had passed and we were not given yet the information that we need to appease us,” Besa said. “The agency has promised to update us of my aunt’s case. But until now, they would only give us false promises.”
