New Palm Jumeirah Monorail station opens

A new station of The Palm Monorail in Dubai opens to improve travel to and from the Palm Jumeirah.

Palm Jumeirah developer Nakheel announced the opening of the Al Ittihad Park Station on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. The station is between Gateway Station and Atlantis Aquaventure, both of which opened in 2009.

The new station allows easy access to Palm Jumeirah’s central park, thousands of residences, and the Golden Mile Galleria Mall, reports WAM.

“The opening of Al Ittihad Park Station is a massive boost for the island’s investors, residents, visitors and retailers, and further cements our commitment to providing new services and attractions at this world-famous community. More people than ever can now enjoy the growing number of facilities on Palm Jumeirah without using a car to reach them,” WAM quoted Nakheel Chairman, Ali Rashid Lootah as saying.

The Palm Monorail served one million passengers in 2016. It connects the island to Dubai mainland. This time, with the addition of its new station, it is expected to carry more than 1.1 million passengers this year at a rate of 3,000 passengers per day.
