Abu Dhabi-based Ryan Mayor and Angelo Bernal emerged as the first Expat Duets champions at the finale of the six-week musical showdown at Vegas Dubai on Friday, March 10.
Mayor and Bernal bested four other pairs in the duets competition. Gigliola Yulo and Sherwin Itac landed first place, while Kitty Barrocan and Mheelo Trinidad landed second.
Bernal and Mayor performed before a packed crowd , drawing loud cheers and applause as they took to the stage for a hair-raising rendition of Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life. Their finale was an operatic rendition of the Impossible Dream.
The victory in Dubai was a first for the duo, who moved just four months ago to the UAE from the UK where they won several singing competitions, including the North Norfolk’s Got Talent where they were the only Filipino contenders.
“For six weeks, the amazing talents of Dubai battled it out, wanting to bag the title of Expat Duets grand champion. We were privileged and honoured to have shared the stage with you all. It’s such an astonishing, great experience. Along the way, we met talented people and new wonderful friends,” the two said.
