Sharjah has just unveiled a track that will pave the way for a healthier you. With the fresh ocean breeze blowing your hair and the sound of waves to keep you company, residents can now start jogging with a view of the beach.
The Sharjah Public Works Department (SPWD) completed the construction of a 1300-meter rubber walkway on Al Hamriya Beach, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on Tuesday, August 29.
The Dh4.5 million development project is in line with the directives of His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, to develop the tourism sector in the emirate.
The project is also part of the emirate’s initiative to encourage people to practice a healthier lifestyle in a natural environment.
Aside from the walkway, a 165 square meter service building was also built which includes 3 toilets for men, 8 showers for women, and a cafeteria to provide for the needs of beach walkers during their stay, SPWD added.
