Enjoying Paoay’s sands without leaving UAE

Being away from the Philippines for work could make Overseas Filipino Workers miss tourist destinations in the country like the Paoay Sand Dunes in Ilocos Norte sought by thrill-seekers.

Incidentally, Dubai has something to offer to Filipinos who seek adrenaline rush induced by such sandy sites.

Instead of hating the scorching heat in the UAE during its summer months, Filipinos can have fun under the sun at the Dubai Desert.

Fancy uphill 4×4 rides are popular among locals and expatriates. Those who do not own 4×4 may rent through tourism agencies, which will condition car tires for the bumpy ride.

From the top of the hilly destination, innately adventurous Pinoys could strap their feet onto a board and slide down the sands.

It may look dangerous, but the majority of tourists who were initially scared of sandboarding go home satisfied from the activity.

Foreign nationals consider Dubai as a perfect spot for sandboarding.

“Dubai is the perfect environment, with so many dunes a short drive from the city,” the National quoted Simon Hunt, an Australian national, as saying. “The beauty is that it’s perfect for Dubai, it’s free, accessible and great for fitness. You can do it whenever you want. Loads of people go out to the desert to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and this adds to that.”

Adventures do not stop at the uphill and downhill rides.

Filipinos can socialize with fellow expats and Dubai locals by participating in activities in the Safari like camel riding, henna painting, henna tattooing, sheesa, and traditional dancing.
