Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon said he is ready to cooperate with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in its investigation into alleged irregularities involving government spending for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Dizon said he will comply with any subpoena the NBI may issue, stressing that he has a “clear conscience.”
The DPWH chief previously served as president and chief executive officer of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), which oversaw the construction of the sports facilities at New Clark City in Tarlac for the 2019 SEA Games.
He maintained that the allegations had already been addressed, noting that the complaint filed against him and several other officials was dismissed in December 2021 due to insufficient evidence.
Dizon also expressed confidence in the quality of the sports facilities and said he remains open to any further investigation.
The statement comes after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla ordered a fresh review of the alleged irregularities in the construction of the SEA Games facilities, five years after the original case was dismissed.
Earlier, NBI Director Melvin Matibag announced that the bureau would investigate the alleged anomalies involving the bidding process and funding of the 2019 SEA Games infrastructure projects.
Asked if he had a message for Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Dizon declined to comment, saying he is prepared to cooperate with whatever actions the Ombudsman and the NBI may take.
