Senator Panfilo Lacson on Saturday denied Senator Alan Peter Cayetano’s claims about his wealth, saying the increase in his net worth came from legitimate private business income and not from budget insertions or kickbacks.
In a statement, Lacson said his net worth increased from P58.7 million in 2022, when he left the Senate, to P244.9 million in 2025. He said the earnings were reflected in his income tax returns and that he paid P10.5 million and P2.8 million in taxes.
Lacson also renewed his allegation that Cayetano had P6.79 billion in budget insertions under the 2025 General Appropriations Act, adding that two projects worth about P75 million were allegedly not implemented.
He maintained that he never used budget insertions, commonly referred to as pork barrel, during his time in the Senate and denied ever receiving kickbacks from infrastructure projects.
Lacson also told Cayetano not to rush the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee’s hearings, saying more issues involving Taguig would eventually be tackled. Cayetano has yet to respond to Lacson’s latest statements.
