President Bongbong Marcos repeated his previous pronouncements that the government would not cooperate with the investigation of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

“Let me say this for the 100th time, I do not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC in the Philippines. I consider it as a threat to our sovereignty, therefore, the Philippine government will not lift a finger or help any investigation the ICC conducts,” Marcos told reporters on Tuesday in an ambush interview.

The chief executive also said that the ICC is a threat to Philippine sovereignty.

“However, as ordinary people, they can come and visit the Philippines pero hindi kami tutulong sa kanila. In fact, binabantayan namin sila,” added Marcos.

The President said that the government should not reply to any request from the ICC. “‘Wag niyo sasagutin. ‘Yun ang sagot natin,” Marcos said.
