The Department of Migrant Workers reported that 38 distressed overseas Filipino workers arrived in the Philippines on Tuesday from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Lebanon.

In a statement, 19 OFWs from Lebanon arrived in the morning at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) PR 685 Terminal-1 on board a Philippine Airlines flight.

The DMW said these OFWs availed the government’s voluntary repatriation program amid the ongoing war in the Middle East.

“They will be provided with various forms of financial, medical and psychosocial assistance as well as training and capability enhancement options from the government agencies tasked by the President to help them out,” the DMW said.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration or OWWA on the other hand welcomed another batch of distressed OFWs from UAE.

Aside from the usual assistance, OWWA also said that all of the OFWs who arrived were given the “Pamaskong Salubong” or Christmas gifts.
