Indonesia President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo welcomed the arrival of the entourage of Philippine President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos at the Bogor Presidential Palace on Monday, September 5.
Both of the country’s leaders also planted trees together in a symbolic act of solidarity as the two countries celebrate over 73 years of diplomatic relations – which began on November 24, 1949.
They are also expected to hold bilateral meetings with delegates from both countries alongside signing several memoranda of understanding across several sectors.
Marcos and Widodo are also expected to release a joint press statement regarding the cooperation between the two countries.
As of 2021, the total trade value between the Philippines and Indonesia has reached US$ 9.5B with export at $8.6B and import at 1.2B.
