BTS to go on hiatus to pursue individual careers

Global superstar BTS has announced that they will be taking a break as a group, an unexpected pause in their career, after nine years.

The group made the announcement during the celebration of their ninth anniversary with fans.

At the “Festa Dinner with BTS” on Tuesday, group leader RM opens up about feeling lost in their overall story and they are struggling to tell what kind of story to their fans known as ARMYs.

“For me, it was a big deal that I didn’t know what we’re going to do as a group from now on. I don’t know what kind of direction our group has to take,” RM said.

“Right now, we’ve lost our direction and I just want to take some time to think and then return but that just feels rude to our fans,” he added.

The group leader also said that they need to mature as an artist and not to be trapped in a cycle that only allows you to produce music for fans and have no growth at all.

Another member, Jimin, said the group is undergoing some rough patch and they want to explore their identity as individual artists.

Suga also admitted that writing lyrics for the BTS has already become “one of the hardest things” to do.

“I have to talk about something that I really feel but right now, I’m just squeezing it out to satisfy people’s wants. It’s so painful,” Suga said.
