UAE residents can now remove their masks without risking penalties for outdoor venues.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA), in coordination with its main partners, has announced that mask wearing will now be optional outdoors, and remain mandatory in public indoor spaces as part of easing Covid-19 countermeasures from today, February 26, 2022.
The announcement comes as part of the government’s continuous efforts to achieve long-term recovery while safeguarding public health and safety, considering the resumption of different activities and a return to normalcy across the country.
The quarantine regulations for Covid-19 close contacts have also been removed. Covid contacts in all state sectors must undergo a PCR test every day for five days.
NCEMA also stated that the infected isolation protocol will remain unchanged from what was originally announced. Infected people, on the other hand, will no longer wear wristbands.
