Senator Richard Gordon claimed that the Philippines has seen a relapse of being the ‘Sick Man of Asia’ under the Duterte administration.
This remark came amid his ongoing word war with President Rodrigo Duterte.
“Tayo is the sick man of Asia again. Naibangon na ang Pilipinas, ngayon balik tayo,” Gordon asserted in a radio interview.
Pertaining to the ongoing Senate probe on COVID-19 funds, he said: “Ang laki-laki nito. Biruin mo break the record ito sa corruption. This is the mother of all corruption, sa Duterte administration pa nangyari. Inaasahan ng tao isasalba ang tao sa kahirapan.”
Gordon also hit Duterte’s for defending people possibly involved in COVID-19 funds corruption.
The senator said the blue ribbon committee will get to the bottom of the alleged corruption despite Duterte’s tirades against the Senate.
