Some 271 overseas Filipinos (OF) from Vietnam were repatriated back to the Philippines amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) reported.
The DFA said 163 of the repatriated OFs were from Ho Chi Minh City while 108 were from Hanoi and were affected by the ongoing pandemic.
This brought the total number of Filipinos repatriated from the Southeast Asian country to 414.
“The DFA is committed to bring home all distressed kababayans who are in need of our help and assistance. This latest repatriation from Vietnam is a manifestation of that commitment,” Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola said in a statement.
Arriola said the OFs were provided free swab tests and quarantine stay upon arrival in the country.
They were also given $200 or PHP10,000 reintegration assistance.
