Philippine Consul General in Dubai Paul Raymund Cortes, was administered the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) vaccine on January 25.
Along with his wife, Dr. Yasmin Balajadia-Cortes and children, he was given the Sinopharm vaccine at Al Qusais Health Center—wherein they joined the queue for the jab along with other residents.
“My family and I chose to get vaccinated in support of the inoculation programme of the UAE, as we believe it is part of our role as responsible members of the community,” he said.
He also urged those who have taken the vaccine to still adhere to the precautionary measures and safety precautions in order to ensure utmost safety of everyone in the community.
“Just because we have taken the vaccine, does not mean we will no longer keep the necessary health protocols in mind. Following these standard preventive measures is still critical to protect everyone’s lives,” he added.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention has announced that 106,589 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were administered as of January 26.
The total number of doses provided up to January 26, Tuesday, stands at 2,677,675 with a rate of vaccine distribution of 27.07 doses per 100 people.
The vaccination drive is in line with the Ministry’s plan to provide the vaccine to all members of society and acquire herd immunity, which will help reduce the number of cases and control the spread of the virus.
