The local police chief of Bato, Catanduanes was fired from his post after justifying the fatal Tarlac shooting of a policeman that resulted in the death of a mother and son.

Captain Ariel Buraga was relieved from his duty after he posted on Facebook: “Kahit puti na ang buhok o ubanin na tayo, eh matuto tayong rumespeto sa ating mga kapulisan. Mahirap kalaban ang pagtitimpi at pagpapasensya.”

He later deleted his post after it drew a wave of backlash from netizens.

His remark also did not sit well with Bato Mayor Juan Rodulfo, who requested the Catanduanes provincial police chief to immediately sack Buraga.

PNP chief General Debold Sinas himself also directed the Catanduanes police chief to relieve Buraga and study possible sanctions.

Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca shot Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank, 25, in front of their relatives when a heated confrontation ensued over the use of boga, an improvised canon-like noisemaker.
