UAE to enjoy up to six days of straight holidays in 2021

The UAE Cabinet has officially announced the approved holidays for the public and private sector for 2021 and 2022.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, chaired the Cabinet meeting on Saturday, December 19, that approved the holidays for the next two years.

Residents can now plan their holidays in advance especially for 2021, which sees up to six days of holidays for the upcoming Eid Al Adha.

Depending on the moon sighting committee, the Arafat and Eid Al Adha holidays are set to take place from July 19 to 22, (Monday to Thursday), which would extend to two more days from July 22 and 23 for those who enjoy a two-day weekend.

Here’s the official list of holidays:

January 1: New Year’s Day

29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal (May 11 to 15, depending on moon sighting committee): Eid Al Fitr

9 Zul Hijjah (July 19, depending on moon sighting committee): Arafat Day

10,11,12 Zul Hijjah (July 20, 21 and 22, depending on moon sighting committee): Eid Al Adha

August 12: Islamic New Year

October 21: Prophet Mohammed’s birthday

December 1: Commemoration Day

December 2 and 3: UAE National Day

Holidays for 2022:

January 1: New Year

29 Ramadan to 3 Shawwal (April 30 to May 4, depending on moon sighting committee): Eid Al Fitr

9 Zul Hijjah (July 8, depending on moon sighting committee): Arafah Day

10,11,12 Zul Hijjah (July 9, 10 and 11, depending on moon sighting committee): Eid Al Adha

July 30: Islamic New Year

October 8: Prophet Mohammed’s birthday

December 1: Commemoration Day

December 2 and 3: UAE National Day
