An entire Filipino household in the US has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), GMA News TV reported.
In the ‘Juan Love’ series of GMA News TV, Diane and Willy de Jesus—a couple who has been residing in the country for 30 years—said they were the ones who showed the symptoms of the virus first, followed by their children.
Diane said that she took care of her frontliner husband who was suffering from severe symptoms such as breathlessness, diarrhea, chills, fast heartbeat, oxygen declining to 76 percent, and others. When she herself started having symptoms, she said her children took care of her.
According to their daughter Excelsa de Jesus, the entire ordeal took an emotional toll on their family.
“It took a toll on us emotionally because ever since dad got the COVID and when my mother got the COVID virus as well, I was starting to have really depressing thoughts,” she said. “What if all of a sudden, you know, I became orphaned, and our siblings wouldn’t have the chance to say ‘goodbye’ to them.”
The children also got infected with COVID-19, but they were only mild cases so they underwent home quarantine.
Willy, according to the video, has fully recovered from the virus and has returned to work. He expressed gratitude for his wife, who he said was there for him through thick and thin.
“I saw in her the love of Christ, ‘yung pagmamahal niya sa akin, sa amin, especially ‘yung pag-aaruga. I felt that love, through sickness not just in health. Life partner ko talaga siya,” he said.
