Russia set to register COVID-19 vaccine on August 12, nationwide free mass vaccination slated for October

Russia’s search for the vaccine against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is almost done with the Gamelei Center in Moscow set to register the drug this August 12.

Deputy Health Minister Oleg Gridnev revealed that among the first who will be given priority for the vaccine will be the country’s medical workers, as well as the elderly, according to reports from Russia Today.

“The registration of the vaccine developed at the Gamelei Center will take place on August 12. Now the last stage, the third, is underway. This is the testing part and is extremely important. We have to understand that the vaccine itself must be safe,” said Gridnev as cited by RIA Novosti.
