In some streets in the Philippines especially in the suburbs, sidewalks are usually either filled with trash or vandals.
However, a sidewalk in Jaro, Iloilo City offers a refreshing and colorful site to people who pass there.
It’s because of beautifully crafted paintings that were put on display by a local artist Larry Casinao.
His street gallery earned praise from netizens after Facebook user Sal Molinos took a snapshot of Casinao’s works of art and posted it on the social media platform.
But it isn’t the Casinao’s wish to make the sidewalk as his gallery.
According to Molinos, this local artist had to put his works on display so he could earn money to fund the dialysis of his wife.
Molinos’ post about Casinao’s plight and efforts to save his wife touched the hearts of netizens and his post has since been shared 2,000 times on Facebook and has earned 2,600 plus reactions.
In an update posted on June 25, Molinos said the city’s task force told Casinao to leave the area since his art display causes inconvenience to the public.
Despite that, Casinao now receives inquiries for his works.
